They had the following children:

  M i Harry Bender Blattenberger
  F ii Emma Mae Blattenberger

Johannes Blattenberger III [Parents] was born on 21 Mar 1765 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA and was christened on 12 May 1765 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. He died about 1813. Johannes married Anna Maria Etley about 1797 in St. Peter's Church, Middletown, Dauphin Co., PA.

John Blattenberger III was a Private in a company of the 4th, 5th, and 6th class of the 8th Battalion under Lt. Col. James Ross, Lancaster County Militia in 1781 in the Revolutionary War. During the War of 1812, he was listed as the Captain of Swatara Guards from Middletown.

John is believed to have died sometime between 2 August 1810, when he was listed in his father's will, and 26 October 1813. when John Bomberger, the administrator of his estate, filed a petition for court approval to sell his home. In light of the time period and his prior military service, he may have died in the War of 1812. However, this has not been proven. He died intestate.

John's house in Middletown was sold to Mary Blattenberger, who was the highest bidder. This Mary was John's widow. On 4 March 1816 John Bomberger produced an account showing that there was $265.74 3\4 in John's estate. On 5 September 1816, John Bomberger petitioned the court to appoint auditors to "settle and adjust the rates and proportions of the remaining assets to and amongst the creditors of the intestate".

Anna Maria Etley [Parents] was born on 10 Oct 1780 in Middletown, Dauphin Co., PA. She died on 18 Nov 1815 in Middletown, Dauphin Co., PA. Anna married Johannes Blattenberger III about 1797 in St. Peter's Church, Middletown, Dauphin Co., PA.

Other marriages:
Bolton, Joseph

The distribution of her father's estate shows that his youngest daughter, Anna Maria Etley, who was still a minor at the time of her father's death, was awarded lot #3 in Middletown, PA.

The record of Anna Maria's death at St. Peter's Church in Middletown says she had seven children. Only the four children mentioned above have been identified. The names of the remaining three of these Blattenberger children are unknown at this time. The church record of her death also gave her age as 35 years, 1 month, and 8 days, which when subtracted from her date of death, gives her date of birth of 10 October 1780. She died intestate.

On 30 January 1816, George Lowman, the executor of Anna Maria (aka. Mary) (Etley) Blattenberger Bolton's estate, petitioned for court approval to sell her land to pay her debts and maintain and educate her children. The petition stated that Mary "died intestate leaving issue three children John, George and Thomas all minors and a husband Joseph Bolton who claims under the intestate laws her personal estate which she possessed at the time of their intermarriage; the above named children were by her first husband John Blattenberger and she had no issue by her second husband Joseph Bolton".

At the time of her death, Mary owned two properties, the house and lot #10 in Middletown which she had purchased from her husband's estate and lot #3 on Spring Street which she had inherited from her father, David Etley.

Also, on 30 January 1816, George Lowman, administrator of Mary Bolton's estate filed a petition in Lancaster County orphan's court for guardians for Anna Maria's three minor children; John, George, and Thomas. Daughter Catharine, who was about 18 years of age in 1816, could have been already married at that time. John Bomberger was appointed guardian for Thomas Blattenberger. On 29 June 1819, John Blattenberger, son of John and Mary, requested that the court approve John Bomberger as his guardian.

On 5 March 1816 George Lowman reported to the court that, at a public sale on Saturday, 24 February 1816, he sold lot #10 and the house thereon to Doctor A. C. Price of Middletown and lot #3 on Spring Street to James Hamilton. On 20 October 1820, George Lowman filed an accounting of Mary's estate showing a balance of $438.30.

They had the following children:

  M i John Blattenberg
  M ii George Blattenberger
  M iii Thomas Blattenberger
  F iv Catharine Blattenberger

George Plattenburg [Parents] was born on 14 Mar 1769 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. He died on 10 Nov 1841 in Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV and was buried in Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV. George married Mary Young on 1 Mar 1791 in Baltimore, MD.

George Blattenberger served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in Captain Jacob Bunner's Company in a German Regiment commanded by Lt. Col. Weltner. After the war he may have received some bounty land for his service.

George first moved to Ann Arundel County, Maryland where a number of Germans settled after the war. According to the LDS IGI he married Mary Young in Baltimore, source 13693. They were married by Parson Weems (who is credited for the story about George Washington chopping down the cherry tree). In 1805 George moved his family to Brooke County, West Virginia where he lived near Wellsburg.

George owned and operated a tailor shop near Wellsburg which was continued by his descendants until 1955.

Before his death, George willed his tailor shop to his son John and other property to his son Jacob on condition that they take good care of his wife and daughter, Mary, who apparently was living at home. George wrote his will on 27 July 1838 in Brooke County. The will was probated in June 1841.

Sometime prior to his death, George apparently dropped the "er" at the end of his surname and became Plattenburg. The surname on the tombstone of George and his wife, Mary, is Plattenburg.

In 1860 George's widow, Mary Plattenburg, b. in MD, age 91, was living in the Wellsburg Post Office District in Brooke Co., VA, in the household of their married daughter, Mary (Plattenburg) Stephens, b. in VA, age 43, and her husband, Lewis U. Mary Young was born about 1770 in MD. She died on 29 Jul 1860 in Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV and was buried in Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV. Mary married George Plattenburg on 1 Mar 1791 in Baltimore, MD.
