Mary was also to have the use of the real estate while she remained a widow. He directed Mary to "raise my son Isaac and my daughter Nancy and give them schooling". Christian Ludwig Plattenberger [Parents] was born on 6 Jul 1747 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. He died on 18 Jan 1833 and was buried on 20 Jan 1833. Christian married Salome Mueller in 1769 in Northampton Co., PA.

Christian Plattenberger moved from Lancaster County to Northampton County, PA around 1769 and settled in Nazareth Twp. near the village of Schoeneck. He was associated with the Moravian Church in Schoeneck, near Nazareth. However, it is not certain that he was a confirmed member. According to the Moravian Church records, Christian was a farmer.

Around 1770 or 1771, Christian married Salome Mueller of Bethlehem, PA. This was his second wife. The name of his first wife is unknown and no evidence has been found to indicate that he had any children by his first marriage.

Christian served as a Private in the 3rd Company, 2nd Battalion in the Northampton County Militia during the period of the Revolutionary War.

In the 1790 census, Christian (listed as Christian Platabergher) was living in Nazareth Twp. in Northampton Co., PA. Living in his household were one male over the age of 16, three males under 16, and one female.

Sometime between 1800 and 1820 (perhaps after the death of his wife in 1806), Christian moved to Baltimore Co., Maryland, with his son, Joseph. In 1820 he was living in the 3rd Ward, Baltimore, and son Joseph in N. Twp., Baltimore Co. Christian is believed to have died there. His burial site has not been
found.

Christian's death and burial appears in the records of Schoeneck Moravian Church, Bushkill Twp., Northampton Co., PA (Record book #3, pg. 121, Item #156, Moravian Archives, Bethlehem, PA). The record reads as follows: "Christian Plattenberger a widowed brother. He was born the 6th July 1747 in Lancaster County. In the year 1806 the 13th of April, his wife Salome nee Müller, died. This marriage was blessed with 5 children - 4 sons and 1 daughter, of which 3 sons survive. He also was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He reached the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 12 days."

The above record does not contain the name of the Pastor who performed the funeral services nor does it give Christian's burial location. The Pastor's name usually appears in similar records if the person was buried in the graveyard adjacent to Schoeneck Moravian Church. Therefore, the lack of a Pastor's name suggests that Christian was buried elsewhere.

Salome Mueller was born on 9 Aug 1744 in Great Swamp, Bucks Co., PA and was christened in Jan 1749 in Moravian Church, Bethlehem, Northampton Co., PA. She died on 13 Apr 1806 in Nazareth Twp., Northampton Co., PA and was buried on 15 Apr 1806. Salome married Christian Ludwig Plattenberger in 1769 in Northampton Co., PA.

In 1750, at about age 6, Salome Mueller moved with her parents from Bucks County to Bethlehem, PA where she was baptized in the Moravian Church. The record of her death in the "Sterbe Register" of the Moravian Church at Schoeneck shows that she died at the age of 61 years, 8 months, and 4 days. (Register Book #2, pg. 107, Item #53, Moravian Archives, Bethlehem, PA)

The church record reads as follows:
Died 13 April, Buried 15 April 1806 - Salome Plattenberger, born Müller, a married sister of 61 years, 8 months, and 4 days. She was born the 9th Aug 1744 in Big Swamp, Bucks County in Pennsylvania. At the age of 6 years she came to Bethlehem with her parents, where she was baptized. In 1769 she married the current widow Christian Plattenberger. This marriage was blessed with 5 children, namely 4 sons and a daughter, who however did not view the light of this world. Of the sons Johannes preceded her into eternity. She had 4 grandchildren from her oldest son Jacob. The other sons are Joseph and Philip. The cause of her death was gall-fever.

Salome's parents have not been identified with any degree of certainty. She may have been a daughter of Abraham and Magdalena (Fuhrman) Mueller, who arrived in America on the ship "Hope" on 28 August 1733 (See Burgert, "Eighteenth Century Emigrants from the Western Palatinate", Vol. II, pg. 239). However, this has yet to be proven.

The daily diary of the Moravian Congregation at Bethlehem, PA, contains numerous references to an Abraham Mueller, coming and going between Bethlehem and Great Swamp. This was most likely Salome's father.

They had the following children:

M i Johannes Plattenberger was born on 21 May 1772 in Plainfield (now Bushkill) Twp., Northampton Co., PA. He died on 10 Feb 1792 in Schoeneck, Plainfield (now Bushkill) Twp., Northampton Co., PA and was buried on 12 Feb 1792 in Moravian Church cemetery, Schoeneck, Plainfield (now Bushkill) Twp., Northampton Co., PA.

Johannes Plattenberger died un-married at the age of 19 years, 8 months and 20 days. His death and burial appear in the "Sterbe Register" of the Moravian Church at Schoeneck in Register Book #2, pg. 91, Item #2 (Original records at Moravian Archives, Bethlehem, PA).

On 14 September 1823, while ill in bed in his home in Manheim, PA., Peter declared his last will and testament. He bequeathed all of his estate to his wife, Susanna, during her natural life and directed that his children were to "aid her in support of the family by carrying on the weaving trade", except for children, Jacob and Susanna, who were handicapped. After the death or intermarriage of his widow, his house and lot of ground and other buildings were to ge given to sons, Jacob and Peter Jr., who were directed to pay $500 to the estate within one year of taking possession. Peter also gave his widow permission to dispose of any of the out lots of ground which he owned near the town of Manheim. After his widow's intermarriage or death, the remaining estate was bequeathed equally to his six children. He appointed sons, Jacob and Peter Jr., the executors. Peter's declaration was witnessed by John Thome and Michael Kauffman.

Before the writing of the will was completed Peter "was taken with violent fever and became incompetent to sign the same". He died the following morning. (Lancaster will book O, vol. 1, pg. 95)

Susanna Eby [Parents] was born about 1766 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. She died after 1823. Susanna married Peter Blattenberger on 27 Sep 1786 in First Reformed (now UCC) Church, Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA.

Susanna Blattenberger was handicapped. There is no evidence that she ever married or had any children.

After her death, her estate was distributed to her brothers, Peter and Jacob Blattenberger, her sister Elizabeth (Blattenberger) White, and the six children of her sister Polly (Blattenberger) Cassel. Isaac Cassel was the administrator of her estate. On 1 April 1871 the heirs all signed a document to certify that they were satisfied with the distribution and settlement of the estate.
