Robert I. "Bobby" Blattenberger, 79, of Lenore Street, Bedford, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at his residence.He was born on June 26, 1934, in Bedford, a son of the late Robert E. and Dorothy V. (McCreary) Blattenberger.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa D. wife of Larry Nunamaker, and a son Dean Blattenberger and wife Bobbi (Shroyer) both of Bedford, six grandchildren: Wendy, Amy, Crystall, Heather, Brandi, and Kiley; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Jim Blattenberger and wife Sara Kay, of Bedford, two aunts: Shirley Wentz of Ryot, and Bonnie Miller of Everett, and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Roger Blattenberger.
Robert was a member of the Real Life Church Assembly of God in Bedford. He retired in 1999 after 37 years with PennDot. He also worked with his dad as an electrician and they did a lot of work at the Bedford Fairgrounds. He was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and a 57 year Life Member, of the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department No. 1.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Brian M. Swain officiating. Burial at Fishertown Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Those wishing may make contributions in Bobby's memory to the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, 244 West Penn Street, Bedford, PA 15522.
