Linn E. Stahl, 88, of Mercersburg, died at 2:00 AM Tuesday July 8, 2014 at The Shook Home, Chambersburg.
Born November 7, 1925 at Mercersburg, he was a son of the late John C. and Olive G. Blattenberger Stahl.
As a young man he farmed in the Mercersburg area. He later worked at Corning Glass Works of Greencastle for 30 years, and also was a part time car salesman for the former Maun's Garage of Lemasters. He then was a bus driver for T. C. Gift for 8 years. Linn was a Peters Township supervisor for 13 years and a former board member of the Golden Age Burial Association. He was of protestant faith.
During his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and helping his sons with various projects.Surviving family include his wife, Pauline N. Mellott Stahl, whom he married June 15, 1946. Two sons, Darryl E. & wife Bonnie Stahl of Chambersburg and Gary L. and wife Sherri Stahl of Mercersburg. A granddaughter, Kristen Stahl (Matt Parker) of Port Treverton, PA. Also surviving are a brother, John L. & wife Gloria Stahl and a sister, Louise S. Stahl both of Greencastle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Stahl and a sister, Leona Stahl Gordon Benedict.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Reverend W David Kent, M.D. officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pauline was employed for 17 years at the former Mercersburg Dress Company and for 14 years as a cafeteria worker for Tuscarora School District. She had been attending St. Thomas Assembly of God Church. She was a former secretary of Golden Age Burial Association. Pauline enjoyed cooking sewing, knitting, and listening to gospel music.
Her husband, Linn E. Stahl, died July 8, 2014.
Surviving are two sons, Darryl E. and wife Bonnie Stahl of Chambersburg, and Gary L. and wife Sherri Stahl of Mercersburg, a granddaughter, Kristen N. Stahl (Matt Parker) of Port Trevorton, PA. Also surviving are her siblings, Evelyn Theis of , Georgetown, TX, Fred Mellott of Tulsa, OK, Richard Mellott of Needmore, Paul Mellott of St. Thomas, and Earl Mellott of Mercersburg. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by siblings, Charles, Grover, Norman, King, Clair, and Carl Mellott and Madeline Humbert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday October 22, 2014 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Alvin J. Hezlep officiating. Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Viewing 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
